I like the Myalinella, a couple of the bark pieces are very nice, but my favourite today is the big spiky plant thing.

I know it is under 20, maybe 12? I will keep a couple, ones that have great shapes and I will continue to freeze / thaw them.

Do you have Jack's book? It's almost an exact duplicate of one of the illustrated specimens.

Mark.

Fossil hunting is easy -- they don't run away when you shoot at them!

Yes and I have a couple in my collection and they are all similar, I know these are rarely found.

I just checked, I still have 16 buckets, that is still a ton of concretions to go through.

Could easily be a ton.  Buckets of concretions are heavy!

They're almost certainly temnospondyl. Which temnospondyl, not clear, but I wouldn't be surprised if they belong to Amphibamus or one of the other two unnamed amphibamids from the formation.

Huh, my reading said they were "unknown", so it's awesome that they've been narrowed down so much!

I agree,

This is a nice example of Mazonova.

These are quite rare and this is a better then average example.

I'm just working it out on the back of an envelope, essentially. There's some unpublished stuff coming down the pipeline from myself and others that will have some bearing on this but there is still a lot of work to be done.

I genuinely forget that lots of people on here are actual paleontologists/scientists who have made and still make contributions to things. Makes everything infinitely cooler to me.

Today I stopped by an auction that had some fossils, (i.e. mammoth tooth, mastodon tooth, Oreodont jaw, horse cannon bones, Moroccan shark teeth, ammonites, etc.). None of the pieces were very good and it seemed that there were reserves on them, that were higher that I feel any of the pieces were worth. So after watching for a little while, I decided to drive the 40 miles back home to whack open some concretions.

I decided to open some smaller concretions, rather than larger ones.

As usual, I found various flora pieces, such as Annularia and Neuropteris.

I had a lot of nice concretions that split perfectly, but nothing was inside, such is the life of a Mazon Creek Collector.
