Jellyfish?

Recommended Posts

Supposed to be from the Cretaceous, found in Mota del Cuevo (Spain). I think it may be a jellyfish... on a shell...

Note the soft-looking round brownish double structure on the center. Between the two structures it looks transparent white. Underneath there is a shell. On top there is a stick-structure with another round structure of a different kind I think.

What is it? Thank you!

I'm not sure jellies fossilize in 3D as they are mostly water to begin with.

Hi!

I have checked with an expert on fossilized jellyfish and this is not a fossilized jellyfish, you were right, thank you!

However, I would like to pose another ID for it... in case it is a fossil, could it be a foraminifera? Maybe a group of orbitolites? Please take a look at the new files as requested.

Thank you!
