Please do not post links to sellers websites.

Post only photos - no links or ad copy.

Thanks for your cooperation.

BTW it is real, but heavily painted on fins, etc.

There are better examples out there for much less.

Tim

Knightia humilis and Knightia branneri were revised to be just Knightia eocaena. By Grande in 1984.

See THIS PDF.

So they are heavily painted Knightia eocaena

Oddly it looks like they only went through the effort of heavily painting on the fins on three of the four fish. Probably because the fourth one was in a position that was too hard for them, but you would think they would go through with the enhancement completely. I guess its too much effort!

I'm pretty sure the tails and bodies are painted as well.

The tails are too thin and pointed.

It amazes me that they put those giant fins on the small fish.  :shakehead:

Entire, complete and total paint job.   If it was any worse it would be fake.   There is a small bit of bone left, but very little

What our friend Tim is trying to say is that you may be paying a considerable amount of money on this:

image.png.e3821c0d8709926ff074e28dd3b729f0.png

That after having been all painted, it may have become this:

image.png.d2a553f1b2ba68008de28af753f71972.png

But it does not necessarily mean that it is this way! This is just a hypothetical example, the state of conservation could be even worse, or little better, but the only absolute certainty here is yes, that is, the fish have been restored with paint.

But if you decide to buy anyway, it's a matter of personal taste and free will. :dinothumb:

Be careful of "amber" from Colombia.  In Colombia there is no commercial amber, only Copal. But even so, they are beautiful!  In Colombia to date, no deposit of true amber has been discovered.

You can get some nice green river fish at good prices, so don't give up just because those are painted.
