2019 Secret Santa Exchange Festival of Fossils

Ralph, @Nimravis sent me a beautiful amazon Creek jellyfish (forgot to take a picture of it) and apparently knowing me well, an un-prepped partial rhino upper skull from the White River Formation!! Of course, I waited until this morning to open it up (you can’t prove otherwise) and got right to prepping.

Here it is out of the box:E0525ACB-1859-4226-AAE6-98398BA8A768.jpeg.a45c362d3596abe6a504ba8a28bda56d.jpeg

And, after some heavy scribe work. It is coming along nicely!

P.S. Apparently, according to @minnbuckeye ‘s SS drawing. Santa looks just like me!

Looks like everyone has been well pleased with their gifts.

As for me, yes I was. My goodies came from the northwest, Washington State. When I saw that address upon recieving my box, my pulse quickened. I was thinking crabs. Well, I was not disappointed. But there were other goodies. Pictures coming soon.

I, too, received a package from Ontario. I think it was Santa's southern satellite workshop and I must have been very good. Thank you, @Monica  and Viola! They're beautiful! You must have borrowed the Jolly guy's magic snowball. Maple Sugar Candy is my absolute favorite and vey hard to get around here.

This is a detail of the one above on the right. Each of these bits is about 1 mm across!

Viola and I have been revealed as Santa's elves from Ontario!!!

We're glad that both @Ludwigia and @I_gotta_rock are enjoying their fossil gifts from us, as well as the little maple sugar candies we included (they are delicious, aren't they?! ).

Merry Christmas to you both, and everyone else here on TFF!!!

This is an edrioasteroid - these echinoderms apparently existed from the Middle Cambrian to the Permian, but this little guy is from the Ordovician of Ontario (I purchased it):

This is a pretty typical hash plate containing a bunch of fossils such as crinoid columnals, ostracods, brachiopod valves, Tentaculites (I don't think scientists are exactly sure which phylum these guys belong to), etc. that I collected from the Middle Devonian rocks at Hungry Hollow near Arkona, Ontario:

I would like to start out by saying Thank-you so much to my Secret Santa! Since this member joined the forum I have been the recipient of numerous gifts from this very generous person. Despite the fact I sometime busts his chops, ( in a good natured way) he continues to amaze me with his generosity. Here are the items that I received from Santa.

Ammonite

Polished mammoth tooth slice

Trilobite

3 Mason creek nodules

Brachiopod hashplate

2 Green River fish

Brachiopod

2 bull shark teeth

Sponge?

Echinoid

Champasaurus vert

Unknown?

I want my Santa to know that I appreciate his gifts and kindness very much.:)

Oh the shame!!!

This elf will be taking note of that and making sure you just get a bundle of sticks for your presents from now on.

You may even get a Krampus visit!

**Just in case you get excited, the sticks will not be fossilized!

I confess I waited as long as I could but finally unwrapped and unwrapped and unwrapped my well-concealed treasure just a little early, on the first night of Chanukah, TDA (Two Days Ago). I carefully peeled away each and every plastic bag, fifteen in all, surrounding the highly anticipated gift from my environmentally conscious Santa, who heeded the written urge printed on each bag, "Reduce, Reuse, Recycle". Well, I'm not sure about "Reduce", but fifteen bags were surely reused well, as the enclosed fossil arrived in perfect condition. Thanks, Santa!   My secretive and most generous Santa sent me this wonderful partial skull!  Without a label, I'm not quite certain what it's from, though. Oreodont? I would be grateful for an ID. Thank you, and happy holidays, season's greetings, Merry Christmas to all! And to all a good night.

Looks like Oreodont to me.

I get down right gitty when I get sent those thin shopping bags in a package.  They have been banned from grocery stores and many retail establishments in this area.  I reuse mine until they completely fall apart, then use as stuffing for packaging.

Is it wrong that I’m 53 and this is one of my favorite gifts? Technically they belong to the grands but I’m way bigger than they are... lol

Mike, you just need to tell the grandkids that these are special toys that have to stay at grandpa's house, and they need to have adult supervision when playing with them. That way you get to play too...and while they're away! :heartylaugh:
