Brown's shoe store. You could put your feet in the x-ray machine and see your bones while getting an unknown dose of radiation. Fun times.

Haha.  Radiation and no seat belt laws!  Life on the edge :)

Wow...we didn't have that!

It looked similar to this one:

Hi all!

Yesterday I went to the Royal Ontario Museum in Toronto with my husband and kids, and while the kids were playing in the "Discovery Zone" I noticed that there was a hard plastic trilobite available for them to play with along with another weird invert (I pointed this out to my kids and they then somehow incorporated these creatures into their imaginative play - I never thought that these animals would have a place in the Medieval period but apparently I was wrong! :P).  Anyway, this triggered my memory of something I saw here on TFF about a Burgess Shale set of toys so when we visited the gift shop before leaving, I asked a worker if they sold such a set and he showed me that they did, so guess what I brought home?!?!?!

The set includes, from left to right:

Olenoides serratus (a trilobite)

Opabinia regalis (a dinocarid)

Wiwaxia corrugata (a mollusc-like organism)

Pikaia gracilens (a probable chordate)

Laggania cambria (a dinocarid)

I'm so happy. :D

That is awesome!  Especially the trilobite.  You know how hard it is to find a cute and cuddly trilobite at Walmart?

Monica to guests:  "Oh, let me get the children's toys out of your way"

Children:  "But mommy, you said those were your toys and not to touch them!"

:D

I have already told William and Viola that these toys are off-limits - they will eventually make it into my fossil display case :D

I've always said you shouldn't give the really cool toys to kids....they don't know how to appreciate them!

I think that was my kit you saw (I had to have two of them!).  Glad you got one!  Now they need a green river kit, an ediacaran kit, a silica shale kit, a Penn Dixie kit...

And I'm still waiting on the brachiopod action figures to come out....

I am waiting for the stromatolite super heroes set that comes with an electron microscope so that you can see them fight off enemies and reproduce. They will be a bargain at only $29.99 each.

The surest way to get a kid to handle your prize possessions is to tell them not to.

Better lock the case!
