Yesterday, I got back from a family vacation to California. While there, I was able to spend two days digging at the Ernst Quarries. The weather was beautiful and the teeth were plentiful!

It was a great trip! Here are most of the finds. I spent most of today cleaning teeth and washing whale bone. There are still some more teeth I haven't cleaned yet.

I think this is the root of a seal tooth. Does anyone know what this is?

A pristine Hemipristis serra tooth. I love the color on this one.

Finally, some tiger shark teeth. One is covered in phosphate.

Love the finds!

I would say you found a good spot with lots of not so usual items.  Its not easy pulling that many teeth from there anymore.

The black on that Tiger Shark tooth is Manganese. It actually cleans off with not too much difficulty if you so choose to do so.

Scorpions and blue centipedes are the norm there.

Oh right, Manganese, not phosphate. Thanks.

I think I'll leave it on the tooth. It makes the tooth unique.

Here's one I have kept "as-is" for several years. I too liked it for the uniqueness.

Thank you everyone for the replies. I combined some of the C. planus teeth I found this year with ones I found last year to make a riker display.Planus.thumb.jpg.7f074fb6d98efa704e1aeac7a252268a.jpg
