I like the way this mineralized. Gives it a look I am not used to seeing in blastoids.

This thread needs a little more coral in it! Here is one that I have handy.

Foerstephyllum vacuum from the Upper Ordovician. This side is particular interesting. Showing some tabulae. :)

Here is my first fossil of the day. I was given this by @frankh8147. Unfortunately I dont remember the species. If I remember correctly I think he found this somewhere near the KT boundary?

Here is another purchase from my local show last summer. The dealer I got this from has, in my opinion the best selection of fossils out of all the dealers who come to our show. When I bought the angustidens from my earlier post, he said told me he had a tooth that any serious sharktooth collector should have in their collection. Alopious grandes

"Six rudists a day keep the doctor for a week away" ;).

Well, I have given nearly all of my rudist specimens from Campanian St. Bartholomä-formation, Styria, Austria, collected from May 2017 to June 2019, to the local museum (ca. 700 specimens, ca. 200 kg). This is my new display, specimens were found from July 2019 to December 2019. Some of them I have already shown somewhere else here on TFF:

Ausstellung25932020_kompr.thumb.jpg.e6d61d82e67711288d233b82bddea9c5.jpg

Highest rudist is 16 cm tall. Still a nice selection, I like it!

1: Hippurites colliciatus, pseudocolony, contrast-rich natural transverse section.

2: Vaccinites vesiculosus, quite slender specimen.

3: Vaccinites vesiculosus, found in two parts, about a half meter away from each other, preserved nearly from the apex, some upper valve still there.

4: Vaccinties vesiculosus, large fragment, upside down!

5: Vaccinites sp., small, but largely complete specimen, including some parts of the upper valve.

6: Hippurites nabresinensis, large fragment of a big one, upside down!

Btw, this was my old rudist display, now everything is at the museum:

Hippuritide_Austellung_1.jpg

1: Hippurites colliciatus, pseudocolony, not very well preserved.

2: H. colliciatus, strongly bend individual.

3: H. colliciatus, pseudocolony of two individuals.

4: H. nabresinensis, one individual consisting of two parts, 4b with partial preserved upper valve. The story behind this specimen is already presented in my blog:

    http://www.thefossilforum.com/index.php?/blogs/blog/179-rudist-digging-at-point-25-st-bartholomä-styria-austria-campanian-gosau-group/

5: Vaccinites vesiculosus, somewhat bend, large specimen. The two parts were found about 0.5 m apart, but at the same day (in contrast to Nr. 4 ;)).

6: V. vesiculosus, large, strongly bend fragment.

7: V. alpinus, large, straight fragment.

8: V. alpinus with apex, slowly growing in diameter with height.

9: V. alpinus, short fragment with apex, fast growing in diameter with height.

10: V. cf. sulcatus, with supposed natural upper end (but no upper valve).

Nice presentation, Franz - I don't know if I've ever seen so many rudists all in once place (other than those photos of the rudist reef deposits that you occasionally see).

As per the earlier discussion about herkimers, I'm having trouble locating my little jar full of smaller ones, but here are two larger ones I've found. As I said, the larger ones aren't as well-formed and are not clear (full of fractures), but they are definitely double-ended.

Indeed very nice, double-terminated, high-gloss quartz crystals, @Wrangellian. And good pics, too! Thanks for sharing!

Yeah, these occur sometimes in some fissure-type occurrences!

Looks like the Palaeocene Oleneothyris harlani to me.

But @frankh8147 probably knows more than I. :D
