South Yorkshire coal measures fossil

While photographing some fossils from the Maltby coal measures South Yorkshire UK. A small piece unfortunately came away, and revealed what appears to be a seed. I haven't prepped the piece further as I'm a little unsure as to perhaps leave it as it is.

I've read about a Upper Carboniferous seed called Trigonocarpus parkinsonii, does anyone have an example for comparison please.

Not sure what the pinnules are around it but they do look like Paripteris gigantea

The only certainty with fossil hunting is the uncertainty.

I would expect some longitudinal striation in Triganocarpus, not prominent but at least present to some extent. That may be helpful with ID. I would not expect any diagonal or transverse striation. I don't see enough detail in the photos although they are quite good.

Fossil hunting is easy -- they don't run away when you shoot at them!

Thank you @Mark Kmiecik for the consice information, I really appreciate that. My indecisive nature tells me not to prep it further as I don't really won't to disturb the beautiful fauna surrounding the possible seed.

Sorry @Mark Kmiecik typo, should have read flora.

Got a chuckle and a second look from me, just to make sure I didn't miss something. I would leave it as is also, unless I was certain it is a seed and that all of it is there. Seeds are relatively rare compared to foliage, so until I had more and better specimens of the foliage I would wait.

Here are my best Trigonocarpus seeds for comparison.  I’m not 100% certain but I don’t think your example is a Trigonocarpus seed.  I think it may be a nodule.  However I wouldn’t completely rule out seed.
