Harry Pristis
This piece of chert is most likely an example of debitage -- waste flakes -- because of the flaws/inclusions on the edges. Debitage is common; but, do search for more lithics. It could be a midden that has been leveled by us late-comers. There should be a lot of bone and pottery shards in a Florida midden. The echinoid casts are not part of such an accumulation. http://pristis.wix.com/the-demijohn-page What seest thou else In the dark backward and abysm of time? ---Shakespeare, The Tempest
Bone 1
Yes, that sound like a good description of what’s going on here. there is bones and everywhere mix. We found 10 urchin fossils so far. Bones of all sizes and shapes. The lichin. Weird rocks. We will keep looking for more stuff tomorrow.
