I think when you have a sandstone rock containing opalised hollow bones with part of cortical bone laying over trabecular decaying bone preserved , it could be Pterosaur or Dinosaur.

but on the surface on the others side of the rocks there’s a fossilised imprint of a wing phalanx in mud .

” So theses bones are from a Pterosaur

Here the tooth that I removed

this is not a Crocodile tooth but a Pterosaur tooth to catch fish

I also don't understand how an enamel tooth could become opalized.  :headscratch:

Is there some study that explains this process?

I agree - would really like to learn more about this.

Have you seen this?

From what it looks like on the surface dino teeth have been found opalized - though not seeing much in terms of extra sources to verify this.

what an amazing sculpture in a matrix opal .

that peacock was carved by Kevin Ma

it’s part of my collection.

Two weeks ago I was at the Brisbane Opal museum and talked to Geoff he told me that I did an amazing job and they are extremely rare opalised fossils ,he told me they were for sure reptile bones  “ pterosaur or Dinosaur “.

Hi ,

Bones, teeth , woods or what ever that decayed and left a cavity after millions of years, if it’s at the right place, they’re rich silica thermal water , that will filled the cavity’s and turns into opal , if you are lucky depending of the microscopic sphere it will give colours.

if you are very lucky and so rare it can turns into translucent crystal opal

and you can see part of the decaying process of bones or what ever that would have been preserved by the silicate.

that exactly what you see in that bone

I never polish opalised fossils but when I find out they’re bones in decaying process preserved I decided to polish a side of that tibia to reveal the internal decaying structures preserved.

now I show you a belemnite from my collection in precious opal ,

The same boulder rock containing these hollow opalised bones at the back next to the imprint of a wing phalanx  has a fossilised cast of a patch of skin .

the mud filled the tiny crease in the skin creating this cast .

The scales made the skin flexible

This has been verified by a paleontologist?

Show you a few geological miracle

when soft tissue’s of an animal get mummified instantly and millions years after it turned into Opal.

You can see on these pictures a Pippie , baby snails, a sea snails laying eggs ( the head, the foot and tubes etc ) Turned into opal .

I wonder if theses opalised bones cartilages next to the opalised belemnite rostrum
were the last meals of the belemnite.

A few paléontologues in Switzerland studies that opalised snail,

they told me an event appended, that snail got mummified instantly with the heat, and salt , it didn’t had time to retreat into the shell , and got buried in the sand , than after millions of years it decays and the cavity was replaced with silicate.

Well, to be fair, all fossils are the results of an event. In terms of tissue decay, that happens relatively quickly unless it is locked in permafrost.

What is so rare in that opalised snail with the microscope you can see inside or under the snail head the ventricles air valve preserved it’s just incredible.

i took a picture of it I will show you .

About the snail , I bought it at the Geneva minerals show , the week after I had to go to the Porrentruy museum to meet Dr  jean Paul billion Paléontologue, he did a scientific description of a fossilised Pterosaur from Solnofen Germany .

So I showed him that opalised snail he was impressed and couldn’t believe it , so he call all the paléontologues of the museum to study that snail, so after one hours they call us and told us exactly what happened.

They said it’s a geological miracle when soft tissues are turned into opal.

Now you can see on the pictures of the microscope, the details of the snail head , the mouth of the snail and the gill mouth syphon ,

hope you enjoy the pictures.

the  bottom picture is the tentacles of the head .

This sounds very fanciful. I know of no circumstances that could cause something like this.

Opalised sea snail from Coober Pedy SA
Australia

« Geological miracle «  is mummified, opalised, soft organ preserved that normaly decayed without trace .

that baby Gastropod had a tiny operculum that was attached to the snail head , I removed it.

Look guys I am not a Paléontologue I just say what Paléontologues told me , just tell me what do you think about theses rare opalised Gastropods.

Now the opalised fossils, Gastropods , shell, worms tubes, barnacle etc in that sandstone is just incredible.

on the second pictures you can see the green pine fire on the opalised Gastropod coil .
