I am not seeing a pterosaur tooth.  Can you tell us why you think it is a tooth.

,

my theory is the pterosaur try to free it self , by biting an animal and got its jaws crashed by the plesiosaur or crocodile and died instantly and then got buried quickly at the right place where rich silica gels occurred so after millions of years the bones and teeth cavity were replaced by the silicate preserving the last remains in decaying stages.

Or it just died a relatively mundane death, became disarticulated through natural processes, was deposited and fossilized. Often, the simplest explanation is the correct one.

That boulder rock keep me busy , it’s a passion for me to try to solve the situation and the énigme of these opalised fossils, of course we will never know what happened, and the identity of theses opalised fossils.

but I am so happy that they were not turned into jewellery.

the colours of Opal are from the diffraction size's of the spheres ( germs ), that are preserved in the gel silicate .

Because I had these opalised fossils identified by Harold E. Gallasch

Valuer registered with the federal Government Cultural Heritage Legislation

and said it was a beautiful crystal opal shaped like the tooth of a carnivore.

so as I didn’t shape anything it would be ta have a similarity of a bone .

Again, not sure how enamel would turn to opal?  :headscratch:

Is that what he said exactly? "shaped like the tooth of a carnivore."

Or did he say it was the tooth of a carnivore?

Just for the sake of comparison, here is the jaw of the Cret mammal Steropodon from Lightning Ridge... opalized.   (This is in the Australian National Museum, not at my house nor at work).  Is the enamel opalized?

so a gemmologist called it a carnivore shaped tooth.  I have a donut shaped bread for breakfast every now and then.  Is it a donut?  Maybe it is a bagel.

@jpc

I think the issue here is that we are calling things something they may not actually be. For breakfast, not so important.
For science, and fossils, a bit more important. ;)

I am seeing a trend of accentuating the more fantastical possibilites, rather than calling these things what they are -  pretty rocks, and maybe fossils.

So  what are they ?

Belemnite rostra, as was said.

Originally, they would have been formed from calcite, not bone.

They are very attractive. :)

Another issue I have with these posts is that I don't know what the OP owns, and what are just photos of other things he finds interesting. :headscratch:
