I think it is a good time to grab a bargain at the moment.

I got this little Edmontosaurus tooth today I don't really collect dinosure material but when it turns up cheep and it is from Hell Creek I can't help myself.

one question is this tooth from a juvenile because it is small . If so that is cool and adds to my collection. I have photographed it on its own , with some of my larger teeth and a close up of the feeding where to show it is not broken.  Thanks for looking and any help will be appreciated.

Of course the size can vary in age differences. But tooth size can also differ from different tooth positions.

And my latest mailbox score still has to do with iguanodons, although it wasn't planned for them to arrive in the same week :)
But I received an Iguanodon thumb spike replica today as an early Christmas gift :)
The original was found in Cuckfield, Sussex, UK and is currently on display in the Natural History Museum in London.
I suppose I now have a good excuse to look for some genuine iguanodon fossil material to display along side it ;)

Thank you! :)
I've always found it hard when it comes to favorites, especially with dinosaurs, but I have to say if I had to pick favorites, Iguanodon would definiatly be in the top 5 ;)

And yes we do, hard to rival the collection of Iguanodons in the Royal Belgian Institute of Natural Sciences, just love the history and story of that find! They really should make a documentary like film about it, would love to see that! :)

A truly amazing addition to my collection.

I think Ralph @Nimravis must be fossil buddies with half the active members on TFF. Who knows how many fossils he has sent to people or how many packages he has sent. All I can say is he is such a generous guy it must cost him a paycheck a year to pay for mailing everything he does.

Ralph did it again. He has such a big heart. I had message a few fossil buddies on Monday asking to keep me in their thoughts since I had a divorce hearing on Tuesday morning at 9:00.

Tuesday morning at 9:05 Ralph mailed me a package of fossils. I was in court at that very time. Maybe it was coincidence, but if so it only speaks to his thoughtfulness and kindness and desire to bless someone going through a difficult time.

He sent me the tracking info 3 minutes later, but I missed it until the next day. Tuesday was a rough day so when I saw his message with the tracking number and the time it was sent I was deeply touched. He has such a kind and thoughtful spirit. I am sure many of you have been blessed by Ralph’s generous and kind spirit.

I got the package on Thursday evening.

I think most everyone has some postal story gone awry. This has an element of that too it, but at least nothing was lost.

The package had a hole big enough to put my hand in! Along with a number of other punctures in it. It looked like someone had been practicing their curling throws with it, only this packaged weighed about 13.5 pounds. So I think they were throwing it a bit too hard.

39AC525E-DBD1-4A75-AEB4-8344F4D1FAC9.jpeg.663d7266b6d0400d9fbd00bed32be1cd.jpeg

Ralph must really enjoy packing and shipping stuff. He seems to have fun with it. All the fossils are neatly and carefully wrapped in bubble wrap and taped with Delbert themed packing tape. So fun looking. Note the Delbert tape in the pic above by my thumb too.

78D8679D-4B37-4439-A73B-0BFE412BEF88.jpeg.e61a264ae9cd112f38222c5c7e4b9daf.jpeg

I put put my hand in the hole and there was a little Mazon nodule sitting right there in the opening.

I had intended to wait till Christmas to open it, but Ralph wanted me to check the condition of the contents. So I had my first Christmas gift on Thursday night. My tree won’t be up for another week or so.

The size and shape of the little nodule is adorable. Who but a fossil and rock lover could call this adorable? :P It’s a brown blob, but adorable nonetheless. Kind of like only a face a mother could love.

A0DD76FD-8DD3-421D-8891-C4D121C4AB6C.jpeg.2981374ed51b6c8057c2b1cfb93f85f6.jpeg

Ralph knows I like septarians.

I think I need a whole display just for concretions and septarians. Here is the inside of the little cutie. It’s got a pure white crystal doing the septarian thing. Not sure what the other little things were inside if anything.

Ralph do you know what crystal it is? Quartz maybe? It looks too white. Sorry if I have asked this question before and forgot.

78F72B2C-5A55-45EA-9E6F-FB35B99BF848.jpeg.2fa28a0d1bec71a6f50d72281ddd992f.jpeg

Then there was another nodule. It felt so heavy when I picked it up I thought it must be something besides another nodule. When I opened it up I remembered Ralph posting it on his “Sometimes you have to Whack it” thread and saying he thought of me. The white crystal in this is even more solid and pure white than the other. It’s a very nice looking crystal. Makes me wonder if you could prep something like that out from a nodule and have a very cool star shaped crystal. One of nature’s real beauties. I bet it would look awesome. I’m not at that prep skill level though. I have one from Texas that I found where the matrix had eroded away that looked like calcite flower petals. I’m imagining this looking like that.

Look how big it is!

F1A94CC8-5917-44B8-A157-4ECA292B380F.jpeg.33ec1bda3693530c58c726f01f21082a.jpeg

Next Ralph included a couple ammonites he said he bought one day while bored.

Cool thing about this one is it did a little auto, self-prep work in transit. The Moroccans could make a killing on self-prepping fossils.

I don’t know the ID on them, but they came from @Kasia. Maybe she can provide an ID.

The curve on the bottom seems indicative of another fossil, but it may be all eroded away so that it is only an amorphous shape now. Or there could be something u see the matrix. At first I thought it was a heteromorph. But I’m leaning towards an evolution ammonite with the center broken out of it. Still cool looking.

I have this fossil buddy who is an artist among other things and he has been taking ammonites with the center missing and either sculpting a pretty slender little whorl in the center or taking a piece of decorative twisted cast iron and coiling it to place in the center. His work is pretty cool looking.

0653DE72-34AC-4E39-BCC1-F2D69DEE2D7C.jpeg.da123fde001ec0b7bf61718454bf5cd9.jpeg

This is a 2nd little ammonite. Both this one and the one above look like it wouldn’t be too hard to remove from the matrix. There are also a few small fossil shells, bivalves possibly, imbedded in the matrix.

00550EC1-060A-49CD-9741-6845CE3930D6.jpeg.b02638e1a1ab64a9542ad7c233c3771b.jpeg

Then there is this orthoceras. You see these things all over the place and at every fossil show. However, I have never owned one. I just don’t buy fossils. So, I am thrilled to have this. I have always admired them. It is a lovely little piece.

918B9FC8-1EB4-4C7E-B31B-1B025752E904.jpeg.f8580ee3343e1e5f4742e8b6ed80c631.jpeg

Then there are these. Ralph has been cleaning house and getting rid of some old fossils I guess to make room for newer finds and acquisitions.

He said he bought these 25 yrs ago at the mid America Paleontological show. They are free standing pedestals with ammonites on top. This one arrived in one piece.

57FD6414-9DCA-4476-9481-D5E0AE7D81D5.jpeg.f68ec51f7c0d1a428b714b790d41cf29.jpeg

Sadly this one did not. It’s base was at the bottom corner of the box with the hole in it.

BB399734-4D08-4E75-8372-2C5A8B014CB4.jpeg.5ee815db3761c598a67fe024353fbbfa.jpeg

I believe it can be glued and will hardly even be noticible since it seems it split along a natural grain or whatever you call it in the rock. This is it below with me holding it together. The crack is the top diagonal white line. You can see other white lines below it which are just grains in the rock. So I think it will be ok still.

847EDBC7-A219-45DD-9A41-E56C7D6F1524.jpeg.6129e7fefbfd90665a36b7d9773e9c9e.jpeg

My question is: what would be the best thing to use to repair it? I have a gray 2 part apoxie, but I think that would cause a gap to show in the rock. I have a thin prep of cyanoacrylate, but I am not sure if that is strong enough considering the weight of the piece. It does seem to kind of almost rest in place on its own just with its own weight. So maybe cyanoacrylate would be sufficient for the job and it can be done without leaving a trace.

Ralph, thank you for your continued generosity to me and so many others. Your generosity and thoughtfulness are qualities you exemplify for all of us. May we all take note and follow suit of what you model so well for us time and time again. May you be blessed for being such a blessing to others.

I really like all of them. I think I will have some fun trying to remove the ammonites from the matrix.

I’ve been eyeing and admiring those orthoceras for years now. Now I finally have one!

Thank you so much!

@KimTexan , Tony @ynot might be able to tell you what the mineral is, I know he has told me before, but I forget. I sent you that other nodule because the star reminded me of Texas. I am really glad you like the things that I sent you.
