Here's my latest purchase, one of the many weird Paleozoic sharks, Edestus heinrichi.  It dates to the Pennsylvanian (Late Carboniferous)and is from the Herrin Coal in Lively Grove, Illinois.  I've desired one of these for a while, and finally found a decent-looking specimen available.  The length of the jaw section is 5 cm.

Nice jaw! It's funny to me, because I saw it sold on the site you bought it from and wondered who purchased it.

Awesome!

Thank you.  I don't have many big teeth; and at this size, I can't afford to insist upon the finest quality.  This was a little bit of a splurge, for me.

I mean, I'd be happy to have a nice sized tooth that isn't partial. What is the size?

Its going to be a very very crabby winter!!!  This is about 1/3 of what I actually received.   Looks like Santa came early this year.  Maybe he was just tryin to get all the heavy lifting done early?  :heartylaugh:

The big one in the back is actually much bigger than the big one in front.  Its about 40 to 50 lbs!

4.75 inches on the longer slant, 4.5 inches on the shorter slant, and I think it measures 3.5 inches wide across the root.  I have 2 other teeth this large or larger, but they don't have the full tooth and root profile.

There are people who wouldn't even show the teeth I have.  There are some huge and impressive teeth, in some people's collections.  Either they search hard and find them, or they spend the money to acquire them.  Maybe one day....

Carcharhinus longimanus, oceanic white tip shark teeth

Pliocene

Sacaco, Peru

Fairly uncommon to find, as it’s a deep-water species. Also, Its teeth are easily confused with other Carcharhinus species. These particular teeth exhibit enough of the characteristics that I feel comfortable in IDing them as C. longimanus

The coin sleeve idea is quite inspired for the display of the shark teeth. :dinothumb:

I have done this for many years for ant hill finds from the White River Badlands. It works so nice, they are easy to store and they protect the fossils. The nice thing about the coin sleeves is that they come in different sizes.

After @ziggycardon managed to find himself a complete Placodus gigas tooth at the PaleoTime BE (Belgium) fossil fair recently, I'm very happy to have now gotten one myself as well! I already had two in my collection before, both broken, with part missing. This is now remedied! 🥳
