I recently found this partial tooth in Florida and I really think it’s dire wolf.  It looks exactly like the upper carnassial dire wolf teeth online.  The only measurement i have is that the thickest part of the enamel from top to bottom is 17mm thick, not accounting for wear.  Can you guys confirm/deny?

Thanks!

Dire wolf could be a possibility but I’m no expert. It is definitely predator air either Canid or Nimravid. Maybe @Shellseeker and @Harry Pristis Could help.

Take pics with a ruler  and post them too.  If you need them edited I can tweak them and repost.

@Shellseeker will be excited about that!

Ok, here is the requested photo.  I’m using the end of my tape measure because the starting end is cut off.

I’m not trying to ride you. Promise. ;)

They need to see both sides, preferably the root from below and most importantly the tooth’s chewing surface from directly above.

I’ll crop and brighten them for you.

Awesome, thanks guys.  I’ve heard this is a pretty rare/valuable fossil.  is this true, even considering mine is missing nearly half of it?

We don’t do evaluations here if you want to see the prices you can search it up and compare them. Congrats on the find! Definitely a spot to keep searching in.

It's relatively rare, but you'll have to keep your day job. 😀

Mark.

Fossil hunting is easy -- they don't run away when you shoot at them!

Would never sell haha.  Was just curious about its rarity.  It’s currently my favorite fossil i’ve ever found
