Brevicollis
Hello, i am interested in bidding for this tooth. Description says that its a weirdly formed croc tooth, but i think its a Suchomimus premaxillary tooth instead. From all what i know, croc teeth are always a circle in the cross section and dont have striations. The tooth has no visible serrations, but a flat area at the back. Thats why i think its a premaxillar tooth. Edited February 25 by Brevicolis Are good signatures really that important ?
FB003
Croc have positional teeth too. I don't see anything here that screams sucho. Happy to be wrong as I've been looking at this one for a few weeks but I think I'd rather it stay an interesting croc tooth . Edit: Can't find much in research material out of this formation so anything is possible I suppose. Edited February 26 by FB003 *Frank*
Brevicollis
Here, some Screenshots i've made. A Sucho tooth, Side and base, and a croc tooth, Side and base : see the difference ? I think Sucho matches more. Are good signatures really that important ?
FB003
That assumes every positional tooth is the exact same though and pathological teeth do not occur. Also what is left out here is formation which is required for a positive ID. Seller has stated its either from Tiouraren or potentially Irhazer formation and not Elhraz where Sucho is found. Based on that I don't think there is any definitive support for sucho over ind. croc. If there is anyone familiar with the locality please correct me if anything is misstated.
