Where is the ammonite layer? Windmill Site question.

What layer are the ammonites in, the yellow stuff? And in that Km? I went once and covered roughly the parts marked on your map here in red. I found a lot of the gastropod stuff but not the ammonites.

What layers do the map symbols stand  for? I assume that Kms is Cretaceous Mancos Shale. You need to read the literature to see what layers that ammonites occur in. Also, realize that ammonites, or any other fossils, do not occur everywhere once you find the desired layer. Distribution of fossils is normally spotty. 
 

Consider joining a local Paleontology society to find fossils; they often know of sites not normally mentioned on the internet. Also, the professional literature mentions fossil sites.
