Florida beach find

Recommended Posts

I was going through some fossils I collected years back from the beach in Charlotte County and found a number of them which I could use some ID help on. This is one of them. While my interest in fossils is great, my knowledge of them is not - but I'm learning. Thanks in advance for your assistance.

Hi,

I think that the bone is too thick to be of a bird.

I'm not suggesting it is a Moa but just noting that Moas had quite thick leg bones.

I don't know if this additional information would help any for an ID, but the cavity at the base extends approximately two thirds it's length and tapers getting smaller. Thanks.

Maybe a worn black coral fragment.
