If a claw had that much curve the animal wouldn't be able to let go while it was under tension and the prey would possibly be able to rip it out, in which case the predator would likely die of infection -- a long, slow, painful death. Evolution works better than that. Only positive traits are passed on. Mark. Fossil hunting is easy -- they don't run away when you shoot at them!
