I recently made my way back to the Puerco to meet up with an old friend for a little "catching up" while we roam the Dakota Formation...

...I think we did more chatting than searching :D ... we really didn't find much. I managed to crack open this little heteromorph ammonite...

Back in June, I found what I thought might be Dinosaur footprints (post #205) atop a sandstone ledge in the Dakota Formation...

...I just got word from the museum that they might be the very first Ankylosaur tracks from NM! :D

They want to visit the site so we will see how it goes. I have to get back there to see if there are more!

Your prescience at the time ("...pretty sweet if they are...that would be a first.") is impressive enough, but to be a first for the state kicks it up a notch!

That's a nice little heteromorph (Turrilites?), and as always I love the panoramas.

Provisional congrats if those tracks pan out! I'll be watching this space..

It was a cold and very windy day but the ammonites helped keep me warm. :)
