It wasn't the most pleasant day, cold wind gusts that got more and more impressive as the day progressed, but I enjoyed the company, knowledge, and finds!

Thanks Charlie. This morning was 19 degrees (F). As I walked to my truck I was talking to myself about how cold it was. 'Round here, dress in layers. The day may start at 19, but will be 40 in no time.

I think the high was in the low 40's, which isn't bad (I lived in Maine for a decade), but the wind/wind gusts could sap you out on the flats after a few hours. I'll just dress more reasonably next time out...I was debating shorts when I left the house that day.

Hey - I've been "out of the loop" for a while.

Which of the bulletins do you recommend most? We've had to be learning 6 new pieces of software, lately. As a teacher, I never thought I'd have to spoon-feed a computer so much.

I'd sure like to go out with you guys sometime!

Wow - those are great publications! I've read several books on fossil in New Mexico, and after only reading

"New Mexico Fossil Record 1" tonight, and perusing 2 and 3 - I've learned more than in all other publications I've read. I also went quickly through the NM volcanoes one. And I look forward to studying that, as well as 2, 3, and others more.

Thank you for providing links to those - I too, am also looking forward to the 4th!

Friday mornin'...loaded up and went to meet Pilobolus for some fossickin'...back to the Puerco!

We arrived at our location and set up camp. One of my goals was to retrieve a previous find. As I headed to the spot, I found myself immediately distracted with "creature hash"...

...yum. :) After a few minutes, I was off to relocate my ammonite. Upon rediscovery, I set up shop for extraction.

...once the glue was starting to dry, I began applying a layer of tissue to separate the fossil from the plaster jacket...
