I'm in a pterosaur mood lately---so treated myself to this very small, Triassic pterosaur tooth from Aust Cliffs. I didn't know of any Triassic pterosaurs being found from there, so tried to get more info from an expert at the National History Museum, who couldn't give a more specific species beyond it being a pterosaur tooth because, apparently, only very fragmentary remains have been found from the Triassic beds there.

Cool! Didn't know they were finding this stuff at Aust Cliff! Learned something new today!

It's pretty rare it seems---the seller I got it from has only found two pterosaur teeth in all his time collecting there. I'm glad I picked this one up. Hopefully, one day a more specific species gets identified so I can put a name to it

An early Christmas gift to myself.

More from Kazakhstan has arrived .... I think I see some of the same material on this thread, haha. An O. auriculatus and a string of associated shark verts from Kazakhstan Mangyshlak, Ustyurt plateau.

This tooth had some interesting pathology at the tip. It ends in a malformed nub with a pair of bumps at the end.

String of associated verts. It would be nice to get them professionally prepped at some point.

Cheers,

That is a gorgeous tooth! Awesome verts too, would be cool to see what it’d look like prepped some!

I have received another outstanding box of goodies from the incredible Ralph @Nimravis

Absolutely tons of amazing brachs :brachiopod: and much, much more. :b_love1:

Yes, I know the ancient label on the right is wrong, but it is a Vinlandostrophia brach with an interesting bryozoan on it and the top brachiopod is a Devonian spiriferid with hederellids on it.

20201216_204105-1.thumb.jpg.3f55182b007067ee82c7f01cc88c5761.jpg

To add to my growing collection of specimens from Lawrenceburg, Indiana, another nice species of Vinlandostrophia and the wonderful spiky bryozoan Parvohallopora ramosa.

20201217_042345-1.thumb.jpg.9a4f0f1ce0b52a95a35aa0866551e326.jpg

Brachs, gastropods and trilobits to add to to my St. Leon collection. My first hypostome, I think. :i_am_so_happy:

20201217_050124-1.thumb.jpg.7722362e7cdfe3faf09053eca8f8e95f.jpg

Corals and brachs from Garr Hill, Brookville, Indiana :

20201217_194801-1.thumb.jpg.36bf91e91e7c7d1971c1e6c209cddc21.jpg

A coral, a snail and brachs including a couple completely covered in encrusting bryozoa from Bon Well Hill, Brooksville, Indiana:

20201218_004822-1.thumb.jpg.405038eef85289dd01f70e365e5f9766.jpg

The bottom group are from the James Dick Cement Quarry in Brechin, Ontario, which I believe is now closed to the public. The three in the middle are Merissa tennesseensis from the Brownsport Formation, Decatur County, Tennessee. Particularly exciting as these are my first brachiopods from the US Silurian!

The top six are Early Devonian from the Bois d'Arc Formation of Oklahoma.

Silica Shale specimens including a lovely pyritized coral and Paraspirifer bownockeri :

20201218_053010-1.thumb.jpg.20c9963120619790796a800c1c0504f6.jpg

And finally, some gorgeous specimens  from Poland and a pile of unlabelled brachs, but I think they might be Cupularostrum saxatilis from the Late Devonian Martin Formation of Pine, Arizona. Am I close, Ralph?

Then there are four beautiful Pentremites blastoids from Vienna, Illinois, Ralph?

A load of wonderfully weird Girtyocoelia beedi sponges, Upper Pennsylvanian, Bridgeport, Texas and last, but by no means least some dung beetle balls from Douglas, Wyoming! Ha de ha, these are great!

So a million thanks once again, Ralph, that'll keep me busy over the holiday season! :SlapHands:

Treated myself to my second Pterosaur tooth --- A Rhamphorhynchid from Jurassic Germany. On a disproportionately sized matrix.

Love pterosaurs. Hope to add even more in the future.

Glad you like the fossils Adam and sorry, I thought I labeled them. The blastoids are Mississippian from Sulfur, Indiana and you are correct about the brachs, here is the  complete ID.

Just a few quick snaps of what just arrived in the post today. This was a "present to myself" purchase. :D The prep is not super stellar by any stretch with a few small parts with restoration, but the price was right. I've wanted one of these for some time, and it just so happens it is the same species featured in our TFF logo. Much bigger than I thought, too, measuring over 8 cm (a bit over 3 inches).
