Thank you sir, I am glad you enjoy them. :)

Killer!

Indeed!

The crab is pretty exciting! Way to go!

Very exciting...had no clue it was in there and I am glad I didn't smash it to bits. This one will be heading to the museum today and I will just have to go find another. :D

Now that is more than cool! Looks like this area is going to be keeping you busy for a while...

Yuppers! Right when I feel I have covered it all...

Amazing finds Mike! I wish we had bedrock exposure like that. I can't wait to be thawed from my icy tomb to get hunting once more.

OKAY, I want to be there! What great finds! Can hardly wait for winter to loosen its grip here in Northern Alberta. Thanks for sharing and making my mouth water.

Nice twofer!

That is reminiscent of me Cenomanicarcinus I posted not long ago... rare enough on its own but never have found one attached to an ammo or anything else!

Thank you gents. I lived in Michigan for a number of years, so I get it. I stayed one too many winters before I made my way to the South West...never looked back. :)

Thank you sir. I was quite surprised to find it in the same nodule as an ammonite. A crab had been on my bucket list ever since I got started in these outcrops...it only took eight years. ^_^

Fantastic finds Mike! That'll learn me to stop heading out of town!

It's quite alright...more for me. :P

  • 3 weeks later...

Expecting a beautiful weekend, I loaded up and headed back to the Puerco.

Soon after departing the pavement, I was greeted by a most unexpected friend...a juvenile Golden Eagle...

...Yipee! What a start to the day. :)

I wanted to revisit the most recent wash I had explored. We set up camp...

post-11220-0-20219200-1426519829_thumb.jpg

and made a dash into the gullies to search out some nodules...

...turned out to be my best find of the trip.

post-11220-0-00727100-1426520534_thumb.jpg

The remainder of the day was filled with leisurely activities of tossing the baseball, some frisbee and a sling shot. :D

This camp site is now dubbed "The Lazy River". ;)

Okay, wow...nice find to stumble over.

Yes it was. I am attempting to prep it (with what minimal tools I have) but dang these nodules are hard! We'll see how it goes.

That hill is a Permian uplift. I have only seen it from a distance as it is on Indian land. Just to the right in the distance, a bit hard to see, is the Sandia Mountains...which is home. I always thought it was cool to be able to see "home" from out in the Puerco. :)

Regards,

I love the scenery of the Puerco. I am spoiled by the SW...I tend to forget it is still winter.

Ah.

Yes, I can see home (if not the actual house) from my usual spot too, I'm not far from it at all.

I'll be interested to see how you make out with the prepping.
