Yes it is really great to get specimens that I can’t find or even order in the U.K.. I think this why the blind trade is so good. As the great man said on page 1 “ I also try to ship items that I feel the receiving party wouldn't have access to in their areas. For instance, I likely wouldn't ship a crinoid hash plate to a place that readily has them in their backyard. What would be the point?“ Doren
Nimravis
Well when I arrived home today I found another package waiting for me and this one was from @Bobby Rico and he sent me some beautiful fossils from the UK as his part of our “Blind Trade”. I will start off with a 1903 post card from The Fossil Grove that is located in the district of Whiteinch, Glasgow Scotland. The Funny thing about getting this post card is that my mother was born in Whiteinch and my grandfather worked at the Fossil Grove in the 1950’s. Now on with the fossils. Here are 3 pieces from Whitby, Yorkshire, England. Ammonite- Eleganticeras Ammonite- Dactylioceras Gryphaea arcuata Here is a polished piece of Siphonodendron pavciradiale Lower Carboniferous Burnhope Reservoir Wearhead, County Durham, England A beautiful flora piece- And last but not least, a nice trilobite. Thanks for the trade Bobby and I hope you enjoy the stuff I sent you as much as I enjoy the fossils that you sent me, Doren would have loved all of these pieces. Thanks again.
thelivingdead531
@Nimravis and @Bobby Rico those fossils are amazing, but that postcard is a treasure!!! My visit to The Fossil Grove is one of my favorite trips while living in England. Having an old post card, with personalization, from a great fossil site (especially when a relative had worked at that site) just makes it the most special piece in my eyes.

Thanks again. Your welcome mate. Postcards are kind of my thing now. I got the habit of sending them off MrsR. I normally send more joke ones but I thought you like this one. Doren always liked the postcards and he stated send me some back too . I glad you liked the fossil and the plant material was the nicest one I had and been that it was from an closed coal mine and now a lost location . I thought it represented a part of U.K. history too.

It's kind of in my blood too as my grandpa was born in Drumheller Alberta and collected dino bones in his youth, before moving away, and I've inherited a few of those. Lots of nice stuff being traded!

badeend
Hello, I love the idea. Is there anyone interested in a blind trade! I can make a nice batch with European material! greetings Walter 1 “If you can't explain it to a six year old, you don't understand it yourself.”
Fossildude19
Just a reminder - blind trades are just that. There is no recourse through the Fossil Forum if you should feel cheated or unfairly taken advantage of. 3 Tim - VETERAN SHALE SPLITTER VFOTM --- APRIL - 2015 __________________________________________________ "In every walk with nature one receives far more than he seeks." badeend
Hello, I'm not really concerned about it and understand the Fossil Forum doesn't want to be an umpire in these matters. I think what is needed is mutual trust. And a blind trade proposal doesn't always have to be accepted. Thanks Walter “If you can't explain it to a six year old, you don't understand it yourself.”

Thanks Walter The reason for the re-iteration is because we have had a few instances of trades gone wrong. Just a Public Service Announcement - because invariably, when problems arise, we get dragged into it. 1 Tim - VETERAN SHALE SPLITTER VFOTM --- APRIL - 2015 __________________________________________________ "In every walk with nature one receives far more than he seeks."
