Making new memories today...went to see Jurassic World in my dino suit. Stopped, so hubby could snap a family photo. I so want that 3D display!

Oh yeah I would be happy with that too. Nice :dinothumb:

Some of my favorite childhood books:

Hands down my favorite.  I practically slept with this thing.

My second favorite.  The paintings are amazing.  Just last week I collected my first phytosaur material, something I first learned about in this book (sadly, no Coelophysis).

The rest are in no particular order but still love (and have) them all.

Peat Burns,

Oh yeah, kids of the early 70's who were into really into dinosaurs had at least one book by Roy Chapman Andrews and it was almost certainly "All About Dinosaurs" and/or the shorter-version paperback published by Scholastic, I think.  Among the books I had were "Dinosaurs and More Dinosaurs," "Dinosaurs and Other Prehistoric Reptiles, and another one I can't recall the title of.  It was published by Grossett and Dunlap in the early 70's (can't find a photo of it on the web but saw it in a used bookstore last year).  It was the first book I read about the pterosaur, Dsungaripterus.  And of course, I had the How and Why Book of Dinosaurs along with several others in that series.  I just found one on "Time" at a flea market last month.  I couldn't pass it up - only $3.

The "Album of Dinosaurs" came later.  It was part of a series ("Album of Horses" was another).  "All about Dinosaurs" was part of a series as well - other science and history books.

I was fascinated by "The Hot-Blooded Dinosaurs" when I found it in paperback in the late 70's and found William Stout's 1981 book on dinosaurs equally intriguing.

Of course, Robert Bakkers "The Dinosaur Heresies" was a must-have for anyone into dinosaurs.  I was in my 20's by then.

Alas, the only thing dinosaurish i have is that Theropod tooth or claw like thing from the Kimmeridgian age. My children's plastic dino are somewhere else…

What make me say it might be a tooth or a claw is that the touch feeling is not at all the same than with a shell's one.

And how nostalgic to recall saturday morning cartoons

Any of you all ever watch Jonny Quest cartoons when you were a kid? My favorite episode was the one with the "pteranodon." I found it online and watched it again. LOL...I some how remember it being a little scarier back then.

Me too.  I was in grad school and went to one of his talks where he made his typical (quite good) line drawings during the presentation. While waiting to have him sign my Dinosaur Heresies book, I wondered if I should ask him for the drawing on the easel.  I chickened out, got my autograph, and went on my way.  I turned around to see a little kid ask for it and receive it.  Oh well, I hope it inspired the youngster and that he took good care of it. :)

Thanks for your challenging quiz (on page 12), Bobby, and for offering up your original art as a prize!  I've only figured out a few of the answers so far, but it's been a grand time looking for them. I hope lots of people will give it a try.

Not to be an answer to the quiz.
