So we drove to a nearby Bass Pro shop and picked out a pair. While we were there, Sara admired the fish in the stores large aquarium. It was about getting something for my son, Devin's, Birthday. Lori was one of our kind and generous forum members, who sent Devin some Birthday gifts. This was back shortly after The world went on lockdown due to Covid. The deal was Lori sent a pin for me and Devin each, but we had to earn the pin. 1 I like Trilo-butts and I cannot lie. Darktooth Posted April 16, 2022 Share Posted April 16, 2022 After I awoke from my slumber, quite refreshed I do say, I looked out the window and realized that there was absolutely no wind today. What does that mean you might ask? Only that it was perfect conditions for practicing casting with my flyrod. So off I went with Sara in tow. We headed for a local pond which has no pesky bushes of trees around. The perfect place to cast a flyrod without worrying about obstacles to get tangled up in. I like Trilo-butts and I cannot lie. Darktooth Posted April 17, 2022 Share Posted April 17, 2022 When we arrived I explained to Sara that this pond is connected to Onondaga Lake by a small stream. Onondaga Lake had once been designated as the most polluted Lake in the United States. Efforts were made to clean the Lake up. They dredged an capped off an area where sediments were contaminated with mercury. Despite it's unsavory past, the Lake is a very popular fishing spot. It is also the home of many Bird species. In fact it is one of the best places to bird watch. Bald eagles are found in large numbers in the trees surrounding the lake. Here are some pics of the pond. Darktooth Posted April 17, 2022 Share Posted April 17, 2022 (edited) When I was finished with my casting practice I took Sara to a spot on the shore of the lake. I didn't know at the time but we would soon be part of an Easter Egg Hunt. We stumbled across a lone egg on the shoreline. I assume that it may be a duck or goose egg as there are many that call the lake home. But I did not see a nest anywhere near where the egg was found. I was surprised to find it undamaged. Sara asked if we should rescue it, but I told her it would probably be better if we left it alone. She thought about it for a bit, and then agreed. When we got home I decided to have some of the white chocolate chunks that my wife had gotten me from a local candy maker. The company is called Hercules Candy. It is family owned and has been around a very long time. My wife always goes there to get a couple items for Easter. I shared some with Sara. She thought that it was delicious.
