I have always loved Aracucaria mirabils cones from Jurassic La Matilde Formation - Patagonia, Argentina.

Here is a smaller, sliced and polished cone that I can add to my other cones.

Then some cambrian brachiopods from Utah Schizambon typicalis

Those brachiopods are very cool ... having searched the Latham shale over in California I can attest that primitive brachs are not always a common occurrence.

Congrats,

Here are a few Florida Bone Valley fm. teeth I picked up on our favorite auction site. I couldn't pass up a great deal.

Thanks ... you really don't know what you've got in the parcel until you get them back home and turn up the magnification.

Beautiful hues in these teeth. I have seen a few of your post in this thread and I was wondering how you display your shark teeth?

I have to agree with you I also love these cones but in the UK they are very spendy and out of my reach.  Nice buy

Currently nothing fancy .. they are in Riker boxes in an old flat (?) filing style wood cabinet that is mid-refinish. One day I suspect I will finish it in a flurry of activity as is usual.  But for now it sits ... waiting.

Eventually something fancier for the teeth would be nice. Give them a good lift with custom stands and displays. Multiple levels etc... for now they are being archived and manipulated digitally. I'm slowly making my way into the collection but eventually I hope to have high quality prints for most of them.    -and maybe even a book?-  (Speaks quietly)

Cheers,

B

We had this nifty little fossil arrive yesterday, a 2.6” piece of Ceratopsian frill from the Aguja Formation. Our first fossil from this formation. We can add Agujaceratops to the roster of dinosaurs we talk about too !

It took a while, but I just got home from work to see a nice package from Russia. I ended up buying a nice, recently described trilobite (Trigonillaenus) Illaenus slancyensis. It's a small, but beautiful trilobite.

The Russian illaenids have been reclassified by Krylov 2017.  Illaenus slancyensis Krylov 2016 is now a subgenus: I. (Trigonillaenus) slancyensis

The article focuses on the trilobites of the genus Illaenus Dalman, 1827 of Darriwilian-Katian Stages from East Baltoscandia. As a result morphological and stratigraphic distribution data for 23 species of the genus Illaenus Dalman, 1827, were united in five subgenera: Illaenus Dalman, 1827, Pseudoillaenus subgen. nov., Trigonillaenus subgen. nov, Baltillaenus subgen. nov. and Rutheniaeillaenus subgen. nov. The new subgenus is based on relations of length and width of cephalon and pygidium, outlines of dorsal furrows of cranidium, width of relations of rachis of thorax and thorax, length of rachis of pygidium and quality of terrace lines. Three new species: Illaenus (Trigonillaenus) kotlukovae sp. nov., I. (T.) volkhovensis sp. nov., Illaenus (Rutheniaeillaenus) dubari sp. nov. have been described in Saint-Petersburg region and Estonia. The article also presents diagnosis for three species and subspecies: Illaenus (Illaenus) chiron stacyi Holm, 1886, I. (I.) planifrons Jaanusson, 1957, Illaenus (Baltillaenus) glabrisculus Jaanusson, 1957, which include new morphological data about these species and are reported here for the first time. Two rare species: Illaenus (Trigonillaenus) schmidti Nieszkowskii, 1857, Illaenus (Illaenus) intermedius Holm, 1886, have been described from the Ordovician strata of the Saint-Petersburg and Novgоrod Regions. The neotype of (Trigonillaenus) schmidti Nieszkowskii, 1857 and the lectotypes of Illaenus (Illaenus) chiron stacyi Holm, 1886 and Illaenus (Illaenus) intermedius Holm, 1886, are stated in this article. A new phylogenetic scheme for East Baltoscandian representatives of the genus Illaenus Dalman, 1827, which includes 5 phylogenetic branches, often with parallel development, is put forward. In the base stratigraphic scheme used in this article 9 layers with trilobites of genus Illaenus Dalman, 1827 which were given correlation of the Ordovician deposits of the East Baltoscandia and the West Baltoscandia Regions are stated.

Krylov, A.V. 2017

That is probably the most beautiful mineral preservation I have seen on a bug.

Nice cone.  Just a few years ago before the embargo from Argentina the Tucson show was full of these.  I would go into one of the dealers room and just drool over what he showing.   Branches with 2 or 3 cones.. Beautiful colors on sliced specimens, several different types,  just gorgeous.   I've also always loved them.
