Top Trilo
I recently got this megalodon tooth, not in perfect condition but isn’t terrible. The best part is the slant length is 5.25 inches 4 “If fossils are not "boggling" your mind then you are simply not doing it right” -Ken (digit) "No fossil is garbage, it´s just not completely preserved” -Franz (FranzBernhard) "With hammer in hand, the open horizon of time, and dear friends by my side, what can we not accomplish together?" -Kane (Kane) "We are in a way conquering time, reuniting members of a long lost family" -Quincy (Opabinia Blues) "I loved reading the trip reports, I loved the sharing, I loved the educational aspect, I loved the humor. Nimravis
Well I got something that hat I did not need, but I do love trace fossils, and I especially like tetrapod prints or trackways from New Mexico. Here are 3 nice large pieces, each contain a single print of the tetrapod Tambachichnium. These pieces come from the Lower Permian, Sangre de Cristo Formation El Pueblo Site Upper Pecos Valley, New Mexico

That's what I did with these pics, but the lighting and camera settings etc. are still not ideal, apparently. It's tough to pin down what exactly the problem is when it occurs, or else I'm making do with what I've got.
FF7_Yuffie
Won another Wealden fossil auction. A 1.1cm pterosaur tooth. I see a pterosaur fossil, I bid--they're my favorites. This is bigger than my other Wealden pterosaur teeth, 8

Would've gone after it myself if I didn't need to specialize I'm happy it found a good home 1 'There's nothing like millions of years of really frustrating trial and error to give a species moral fibre and, in some cases, backbone' -- Terry Pratchett

However, for a while now I've stopped bidding on items/stopped trying to get items that are not related to marine reptiles. Just need to keep focus within the collection - and especially attribution of funds to it - you know... In this case, however, I simply forgot about the auction 1 'There's nothing like millions of years of really frustrating trial and error to give a species moral fibre and, in some cases, backbone' -- Terry Pratchett

Did you get one of the nice ichthyosaur fossils that ended the other day? I saw a seller had a bunch of nice jaw pieces and verts and skull pieces up. It was kind of an impulse buy at the last minute; though, I think it's too old to be Baryonyx walkeri right, so either Baryonychinae indet. or cf. Baryonyx/Suchosaurus?

There was a lot of good stuff listed the past few days. I was tempted to go for this as well, but plumped for bidding for the pterosaur (jsut can't refuse a pterosaur, they're my favorites), iguanodon (went way over the bid I tossed in) and a couple of the ichthyosaur pieces. Lovely little fossil though, I'm surprised it went for that price given Baryonyx fossils come for sale so rarely.

MarcoSr
I have a few interesting pieces in the mail. First are these two pieces (72x40x35mm - 166g and 100x95x35mm - 545g) of polished Stromatolite Agate Achat from the Mátra Mountains, Gyöngyöstarján, Hungary which are around 20 MBP. I bought these because I wanted some examples of Stromatolites. When I was looking for Stromatolites I came across this piece (5 inches X 4 inches X .375 inches) which is a polished freshwater Oncolite Stromatolite from Lady of Angels Lake, Chihuahua, Mexico Upper Cretaceous 60 to 90 MBP. I hadn’t heard of an Oncolite before so I had to google it. This is what I found: “Oncolites are sedimentary structures composed of oncoids, which are layered structures formed by cyanobacterial growth. Oncolites are very similar to Stromatolites, but, instead of forming columns, they form approximately spherical structures. The oncoids often form around a central nucleus, such as a shell fragment, and a calcium carbonate structure is deposited by encrustin microbes. Oncolites are indicators of warm waters in the photic zone, but are also known in contemporary freshwater environments. These structures rarely exceed 10 cm in diameter.” I have these three pieces of red marcasite agate (3.6 kg) coming from Indonesia. I really shouldn’t have bought these because marcasite can be much less stable than pyrite (pyrite rot) and is more brittle. But I just thought that they looked too good to pass on. I may not think that if the marcasite starts turning into a white powder and sulfuric acid from moisture and oxygen. I also purchased two pieces (3kg) of much more conventional petrified wood because I liked the colors and the embedded silica. Marco Sr. 3 1 "Any day that you can fossil hunt is a great day." Sjfriend
My "new to me" air scribe. Was sent a CP 9361 with extra scribes. Now I just have to get a warm place to use it. Just brought home over 25 pounds of rock with trilobites to dig out from a trip to California (trip thread to be made later). Now just have to learn to use it lol. I brought home plenty of extras to practice on.

FF7_Yuffie
I don't think I posted these. A pair of Lyme Regis ichthyosaur tooth, or rather a tooth and the root of a tooth. And a small jaw piece with an unfortunately damaged tooth in, but still a nice piece for my small UK marine collection. Also from Lyme Regis.
