And here's my latest arrival.  It's a three sets of big Pteraspid shields of the Larnovaspis jawless fish fossil, Devonian, Ukraine.

I received my half of a recent trade with @will stevenson today -- a bunch of shark teeth and other fossil rich rocks from multiple UK Triassic (Rhaetian) sites for further exploration/breaking down and some nice chimmaeroid material from Herne Bay.

Here are some of the fossil shark teeth that arrived exposed already -- a Lissodus tooth and a few hybodont teeth (hash marks are millimeters). These are my first Triassic teeth. :)

I'm still buying petrified wood from Indonesia.  I look for the really unusual pieces.  I'm looking much more for color and crystal structure than wood structure.  The latest 5 pieces have silica, copper and iron oxides.  Two pieces are cut and polished both sides and three pieces are cut and polished one side and rough on the other side (which I prefer).  All pictures are taken with the pieces dry.

Group pictures:

I got something in the mail two days ago, which I bought from @Haravex! A beautiful Suchomimus tooth! :D I don’t think I’ll afford a Baryonyx tooth anytime soon, but at least I own a close relative’s tooth! I love it already! :b_love1:

Unfortunately mailbox scores are not always good things.

...

The seller doesn't understand why I have a problem with what he sent.  He even offered out of his generosity to send me something good the next time I bought from him.  This is why you should always use PayPal and not other payment methods when buying from foreign sellers especially those in Indonesia.  I will file a dispute with PayPal and then escalate to a claim if the seller won't refund my purchase price plus shipping costs.   What bothers me the most is that this seller destroyed two incredible pieces to get a few dollars more for the yellow agate.

That is low. Everyone knows that what you receive should match what you see in the pictures you are shown before buying... don't they?  :shakehead:

Triassic ammonoids now, eh? Very nice... I've had my eye on some of those ones from Nevada but haven't pulled the trigger yet. For some reason Triassic ammonoids seem not as common and more expensive, generally. I have a feeling that as soon as I shell out for one, a better one at a better price will show up. I've got one from the Toad River already, but I think yours has nicer sutures (mine's a different genus). Probably from the same supplier, by the prep job.

Driven right thru there plenty :zen: But with new rules, Canada is getting picky about taking fossils out of country (even little inverts :(

Specifically in this case it is BC that is getting picky. Other provinces have their own regulations (some very strict, others almost non-existent).

I haven't acquired many new fossils lately (or collected in the field, for that matter - winter), but I got this little shrimp from Solnhofen. It's only my 3rd specimen from there, the other two being both Saccocoma crinoids.

Sorry for the poor pics, it's not an easy one to photograph with my setup/skills.

The info that came with it is:

Hefriga serrata, Uppermost Kimmeridgian, Solnhofener Plattenkalk, Eichstätt Bavaria.

Ordered a selection of Wealden marine fossils

It's a nice little snapshot of marine life. Four teeth and 2 crocodile scutes, plus other small bits of bone in the bone bed.

I think the roundish tooth is Theriosuchus. The other tooth in the matrix, Goniopholis?

Yep. We drive from Alaska to Arizona every couple years so we spend a lot of time driving thru BC (love the Cassier) but with their rules I don't even slow down to look let alone stop.

Daspletosaurus from Pondera County, Montana. I figured it would be a nice challenge to try to restore this one. It's around 50% there and would have been over 2" complete.

Why do you believe this is Daspletosaurus?  It's a nice resto project

Thank you haha, you saved me a label with a typo.

I bought it from the one who found it, who said it's Dasplatosaurus based on the size and layer it was found in. As far as I know, both Gorgosaurus and Dasplatosaurus reach similar sizes so I basically went with the layer argument. Does it make sense to you or is the claim dubious in your opinion?

Great on the label.  On the tooth it could be either Tyrannosaurid.  Daspletosaurus can get much larger but not in the size you have.

Is there any way to tell them apart based on serrations count or width? I think I remember you undertaking such a project before, based on photographs from our members' teeth. I could be misremembering

There is a way on certain, not all teeth,  based on looking at serration density and jaw position.  Discussed in this topic.

That's a beautiful shrimp, with these relatively flat fossils I have had success by taking pictures in the past by putting some light at an angle so the shade helps extrude the fossil visually
