A bird in hand may result in bloody fingers. I'd rather have two in the bush.... :)

Context is critical.

A bird in the hand would rather be back in the bush.... :)

BTW: Nice business end of an eagle, Auspex.

And with my birding experience, a duck would probably draw blood....

Don't laugh...

I was attacked by a territorial Muscovy Duck in the Lower Rio Grand Valley (S. Tx.) and he did indeed draw blood.

Still, Golden Eagles can mess you up!

Shows what I know. :) I'll just enjoy them through the spotting scope.

It was, I am told, pretty hilarious. The darn thing got a toe claw stuck through the leg seam in my jeans, while I was trying to get away, and I dragged him for about six steps (self-inflicting some deep scratches). Among those present, I'll never live it down  .

Saw this at a Paleocene exposure along the Potomac. Someone forgot to tell this guy you can't dig into the cliffs. Or possibly Marco has it trained to mine for the micros he so loves!

Damselfly, actually, as it can fold its wings back. :)

Great macro shot with superb depth of field for a close-up. Please post equipment used and settings. Thanks.

Very docile wasps.

Eastern Cicada Killer- Sphecius speciosus.

Even though they are quite menacing looking, large, and could pack a punch if they want to, you can walk through dozens of them as they buzz over their territory and they aren't agitated at all.

Here is one sitting at the entrance of her burrow:
