You all are killing me with fantastic outdoor/plant/flower photos....Stop, please stop...

Nah. :)

After looking for over a year, I finally found a pale jewelweed (Impatiens pallida):

post-6808-0-38996600-1409555813_thumb.jpg

This was growing with the much more common spotted jewelweed (orange things in the background).

A thunderstorm rolled through this afternoon. Here's the view from my SC backyard afterwards.

attachicon.gifDSC_4999psz.jpg

Nice one snolly it appears to be pointing to my pot of gold at USC. ; - )

It's hard to remember why you drained the swamp when your surrounded by alligators.

You all are killing me with fantastic outdoor/plant/flower photos....Stop, please stop...Well maybe not just yet! :P

I've got some chores tomorrow but maybe we'll take a 15 minute ride down the road aways and take some photos...Enjoy the long holiday weekend everyone.

Regards, Chris

Plantguy, I'm sure you know but for everyone else; don't be afraid to get close and use you macro mode on your camera. Many of my Flower photos are taken without direct viewing of the Flower in the view finder because of position or closeness to the ground. Hold your lens close to the subject, let your camera auto focus than click the photo. Check your pic and take 4 or 5 more and some will be perfect. It is easy to delete the bad ones and adjust the balance in your photo editor. I will show some photos that I did this way. Back and knee problems sometimes keep people from getting in a good position for many photos.

Jeff, LOL. The arc's terminus does appear to fall in the direction of USC. I could not tell from your message, if the gold you referenced was that which flowed from your pocket to USC or the golden experience your daughter gained!?!

Mine from USC to VCU - she completed her graduate degree this spring and is now ensconced in a gig in NYC! It's great to watch them fly.

Good luck to yours in NYC. You gotta see it to know it. ;)

Very nice, it does have that impatiens petal arrangement doesnt it...Congrats! I didnt see any flowers today when I went exploring in the creek. This aint the greatest photo but when I was out today there was the standard plethora of palm, spanish moss with some barbed wire, and the usual mosquitos, deer flies and some wonderful spider webs thrown in just to make it fun. Heard some wonderful owl and hawk calls but never saw them.

In spite of those insect nuisances it was a great day!

In honor of Coco's fabulous fungus here's one from my front yard. It is low to the ground and about two feet at its widest. I don't have a clue as to its identity.

Hi Ziggie, Coco and John...that's quite alot of mushrooms!! Coco, those are really wild looking. I'll have to start taking some pictures as well as they are interesting!...I've been ignoring them for the most part but have been yanking them out of flower beds lately. Last one I ran across and photo'd was one of those bird nest varieties from a year or two ago...
