Got these Bekrit mosasaur teeth in over the past couple of weeks. Extracted one from its matrix and cleaned one up. What makes them interesting is not just their diminutive size (at max. 2 cm much smaller than the regular Moroccan teeth) or their colour, but primarily the fact that the deposits these were found in - near Timhadit in the Ganntour Phosphate Department - are supposedly 4 million years older than those at Khouribga.

All but two appear to be mosasaurine, for lack of better identification Mosasaurus cf. Mosasaurus beaugei, although the facetting in most cases is too unpronounced to really call them that, and if these would've been teeth found in the Low Counties I'd probably identify them as Mosasaurus lemonieri.

The top right two are the most interesting of the bunch, though, as the right most one is a clear example of Pluridens serpentis - making it the only clearly identifiable species and simultaneously extending the range of this species by 4 million years past the age it's been described for - whereas the one second from right is a plioplatecarpine that differs markedly from the latter Gavialimimus almaghribensis in that it only has striations on the lingual side of the tooth, but appears prismatic on the labial. Could this be an ancestor of the latter G. almaghribensis? I find this a tantalising question :D

I’ve been really really busy with school so it’s taken me a while to post my latest  mailbox scores.

I traded with @sixgill pete who sent me some of the best shark specimens that I now own. I certainly wasn’t expecting such wonderful teeth! It was quite surprising. Great trade partner, thank you again! Really looking forward to going home from school so I can add them to my shark display.80BDC17E-1D76-4460-88BE-F4FF51955FB2.thumb.jpeg.f40c763c27788d6d4d00ab9c711aa1e2.jpeg38C7EB21-73E4-4D1B-9001-1CA981C38835.thumb.jpeg.25831e3b8f828d8b5498f55e2e73c37a.jpeg

A Permian jaw I purchased from a very pleasant member on the forum. Another wonderful transaction. I’m hesitantly labeling it as Delorhynchus, but I’ll need to get some better photographs to examine it and compare it.

I purchased a Dimetrodon vertebra from another member here who was so kind as to include some examples of Orthocanthus teeth, a Helodus tooth and some micro matrix. This just arrived! I haven’t had a chance to look at the pieces too much yet since I’ve had a lot of homework. Incredibly kind of them. I’ve never yet regretted a transaction with a member here on the forum. Everyone has been wonderful!

I agree, those are both very nice sets of teeth. I must be the only TFF member that does not have a whole series like this - haha!!

I don't know about that. I'd bet most everyone here has more fossil teeth than I do lol

The more so since it actually shows plesiosaurs with a tail fluke! It's only recently that researchers have started to pick up on this more... :default_clap2:

This came in about two weeks ago: a beautifully prepared section of Stenopterygius sp. ribcage with stomach contents, supposed to have been found in the Posidonia Shale at Ohmden back in the 1980s. The definition is absolutely stunning, and you can see the belemnite hooklets perfectly! The only downside to this piece is that there's a large amorphous chunk of pyrite on the back that runs through the different layers of shale, but at present appears stable.
