They are even more special knowing that he found and prepped them as well.:thumbsu:

I like them that way too!  I try to find one in the matrix with each trip. However, nature doesn't always cooperate.

Monteagle Formation Alabama

Mississippian age

I chose this one because of the way it looks, I think it’s awesome and nice addition to the Alabama collection.

I have finally obtained a UK Pliosaur tooth. This one was found at the Orton Brick Pit, Peterborough. It’s not perfect and is missing the tip but it’s a really cool rooted tooth

I have received those for Christmas from my family. They didn't get almost no information about them.

I found out that this urchin is a modern Echinodiscus auritus, probably from the Philippines islands.

Not the best photo, but I received these gorgeous little teeth from TFF member @David and couldn't be more excited. These little guys hail from Belgium and are going to look amazing in a riker box when I finish identifying each of them.

I do like old publications on fossils and today in the mailbox I received this 137 page, 1934 publication on Paleontology. These old pieces always have great plates of photographs.

Very interesting! The color of the matrix (especially the first) really resembles the oil shale that the fishes in the 18 inch layer of the Green River Formation are found in. At first I only briefly glanced at the fishes which looked so similar to the common Knightia eocaena that are found there. I had never heard of Dapalis macrurus before and a quick image search showed that the prominent dual dorsal fins confirm these are no Knightias. The preservation (and even matrix) look so similar to the Green River Fishes (which I know just a little about). Could you explain a bit more about the formation that these come from in France?

Cheers.

So far 2020 has started off as a good year for mailbox scores. Today I received a nice package of Bakersfield Matrix teeth from @caldigger. He said that these were to fill up some of the empty spaces in my new cabinet. Thank-you very much, Doren. I love these pieces.

Been pretty busy lately but have had a couple of cool shark teeth show up in the mailbox.

From TFF member @David came this lovely Somniosus tooth from Belgium. Our first Greenland Shark tooth. A fun species to include in the educational programs.

We also added a couple more Paleozoic micro shark teeth.

Cladodoides from the Devonian. Maple Mill Formation.

Cooleyella from the Mississippian, Prospect Hill.

The Cooleyella is an interesting tooth. Very batoid looking.
