A couple of Burmese amber pieces with insects.  Found on a certain auction site for a cheap price and free shipping. I need to read up taking pictures of amber to see if I can show the bugs. One is a beetle and the other a fly.

Love Burmese amber.:)

My oldest son was excited and asked "so there might be dinosaur DNA in them?"  :D. Jurassic Park/World might be a regularly watched movies around here.

Hi mailbox enthusiast

Today I received an awesome fossilised bison horn.  It measures approx 13" long and approx 6” tall.    There is a tiny sticker inside which reads Maxey Peterborough 2/1/84. I did some research and there is not that much Bison material found in the uk. I  did after some time start looking online at nearby  museums to Maxey and found one that has locally found Bison bones in their collection. So the label is good I think. Quite rare for the UK Sorry the picture is not great

Very nice addition to your British fossils. :)

Always like your displays too!

A couple of days ago I received a wonderful package from @ricardo after having arranged a trade with him.  The trade was to include a couple of brachiopods going his way and a couple of ammonites coming my way, but he included a bunch of extras (mostly Portugese fossils) for my kids and I - they are beyond beautiful!!!   Please see photo below:

DSCN4510.thumb.JPG.cc192ee57da0b7c2da770a8d13c37372.JPG

Included in the package was:

Reineckeiinae (ammonite)
Polyplectus discoides (ammonite)

Hildoceras lusitanicum (ammonite)

Hemiaster scutiger (echinoid)

Pseudocidaris sp. (echinoid spines)

Lobothyris hispanica (brachiopod)

Telothyris jauberti (brachiopod)

Cryptocoenia sp. (coral)

Calamosmilia sp. (horn coral)

Lopha  sp. (oyster)

Tylostoma ovatum (gastropod)

Pentacrinus penichensis (crinoid columnals and stems)

Some small additional ammonites and a cute little belemnite - Viola loves these in particular since they're so little and cute!

An interesting additional coral - it looks almost flower-like :)

And, he included a coral from Spain - Stylima tubulifera - my first Spanish fossil!!! :yay-smiley-1:

I also think there is an additional brachiopod species in the box - a rhynchonellid perhaps?  They're the three brachiopods near the top of the picture.

Thanks so much, Ricardo, for an unbelievable trade!!!

Thank you Monica for your kind words. Those humble fossils were for your kids’ collection because all of us must be happy when we see interested children in nature and geology.   I´m very glad because you like the ammonite and as you know I’m very happy with my Ordovician NY plate and brachiopod. Monica, thank you so much :dinothumb:

Mike, thank you! You are also an A + :)

Here is a picture from the beautiful NY plate from Monica...

This is not a mailbox score, but they are new fossils to my collection, at least for a little time. I posted a couple other new acquisitions yesterday in the Fossil ID Section. Those items and these two came from a little store not too far from my house.

Onychocrinus pulaskiensis Crinoid

Mississippian

Tar Springs Formation

Perry County, Indiana

I paid $20.00 for this piece.

Starfish- I believe

Onychaster flexilis

Mississippian

Edwaerdsville Formation

Crawfordsville, Indiana

This piece was also $20.00.

Ok, well .. since I can't get out into the world after school has started again I am left to fiddle with some of my Christmas gifts. Here are a few more .. a Megalodon from Bone Valley and two teeth from South Carolina.

I've got a soft spot for posterior teeth .. I have no idea why, they just look cool.  Is it like looking at a baby ? .. haha .. a cruel joke played by mother nature so we nurture and love them ?  But I digress.

I’m late putting this on here (as usual), but things have been hectic in the house since my husband was tasked with a very short notice deployment. A couple of weeks ago I got this awesome Abelisauridae tooth from Matt @Haravex. It’s from the Kem Kem beds of Morocco and measures 0.56”. My pictures are always terrible so the tooth is 100x better in person. Thanks again, Matt!

It's a bone from a Pteranodon indet. from Kansas :)

Sold by our dear friend Kris @KansasFossilHunter and shipped within no time from USA to Germany.

You can read all about it in this topic, it also shows the position within the Pteranodon skeleton.

I'm very happy to get my hands this rather rare fossil and it is surley now the highlight of my fossil collection :yay-smiley-1::yay-smiley-1:
And thanks for the extra 2 teeth. Just 1 cm each, but looking great. :ighappy::meg:
