Today this beautiful piece arrived safely at my place. :yay-smiley-1:

It's a bone from a Pteranodon indet. from Kansas :)

Sold by our dear friend Kris @KansasFossilHunter and shipped within no time from USA to Germany.

You can read all about it in this topic, it also shows the position within the Pteranodon skeleton

I'm very happy to get my hands this rather rare fossil and it is surley now the highlight of my fossil collection :yay-smiley-1:

Very glad it got there so quickly and in one piece! :)

It's a wonderful specimen.

This evening I came home to a package in my mailbox.

Two gorgeous Jurassic ammonites from the UK. Purchased in a recent Forum sale by our member "Ammonite Connoisseur" Ludwigia.

Here's another snapshot of them and I don't have small hands either!

Both very nice ammonites and good additions to your collection.

The Brasilia are becoming rarer the UK, one of the main sites where you find them has now been built upon, so a lost location . Good purchases  :dinothumb:

You're very welcome, Ricardo!  You sent so many additional fossils for my kids (mainly Viola, since William isn't yet interested in fossils :P) during our original trade that I wanted to send a few extra as a little "thank you" :)

I hope you enjoy them!

I just received this piece of Burmese Amber with a small mosquito in the mail from one of our favorite auction sites today. I was skeptical at first but it was an ok price with free shipping so I took a chance. After verifying that it was genuine amber (specific gravity, smell when rubbed and heated, looked under a microscope for any cuts and insertions, UV light for glue, resin, and fluorescence, etc), fortunately I can say that taking the risk paid off and I’ve got a nice chunk of 100 MYO amber from Burma. It also came with the nice “floating” case free of charge. Sometimes risks pay off:)

Very nice indeed! Bargains are always welcome. :)

The poor mosquito was struggling so hard, one of his legs fell off.

I hate it when that happens.

The Goniatite from @Manticocerasman arrived today as predicted. Exactly what I was expecting plus a nice little extra. Thanks Kevin! I think I'm going to have a go at preppng this down some more. I can see that the piece at the mouth aperture has been glued back on and that there may not be any more fossil substance within it, but I think I can at least sculpt out the form. I'm also curious to see how the preservation is on the reverse side, so even though the matrix apears to be extremely hard, I think I may have a peek there too.

Manticoceras.thumb.jpg.20bf5938c6255a9f43f045a0b32287bd.jpg

And here's the nice little surprise he included. A pyritized Goniatite still in the matrix. Looks like I'll have to use the stylus on this one too. Kevin, can you please tell me the provenance on this one? Is it the same as the one above?
